New Group Meeting on our Campus
One of the best resources that we have as a church is our space, and we know that can be hard to come by in Watauga County. Especially for non-profit groups, the cost associated with renting space can make gatherings difficult. This is why we offer our space on a sliding scale, hoping that we can help build community and support groups that are doing good work.
In August of last year, a group called Rainbow Roots Collective was formed out of a need for community for LGBTQ+ and progressive families in the High Country. The vision is to cultivate a space for people of all ages who collectively desire to uplift the LGBTQ+ community to connect, create, and celebrate queer and trans rest, joy, and community. The political climate for queer and trans folks is tough, and the uncertainty that increases daily is hard to quantify. Rainbow Roots hopes to create a space where folks can be uplifted, feel supported, and find ways to help the larger community.
Their next event will be on March 29th from 2:00-4:00PM at the church, and they plan to meet every month on the 4th Saturday. For March 29th, they will create signs of support that can be placed around town to show marginalized communities that they are not alone.
